I was very excited to receive the book Bear Rescue. I saw a black bear this summer, and I am interested to know more about them.

The words Bear Rescue in big bold letters and the bear on the front cover with a “Help Me!” look were quite inviting. I found the book to be full of information about all the different types of bears, their needs, and the equipment used to monitor them. I liked the fact that people all over the world are working together to try and save the different species of bears. The book is filled with wonderful facts and amazing photographs.

I also learned a lot. On the outside, bears look fierce and dangerous, but on the inside they are just like any other animal looking for a way to survive. In the last 50 years, the bear population has rapidly gone downhill. There is a bear farm in China, because some people believe that bear bile can be used to treat many diseases. The bears are kept in small cages and “milked” each day. This practice needs to be stopped!

I had a lot of fun reading the book. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Bear Rescue a 10. I thought the book was beary cool.
