Today Harry Bohm came to help
us wire the electronics in the card cage. The card cage is the
frame the termination can electronics are mounted in. It consists
of four 1/8 inch diameter stainless steel rods. Mounted in the
card cage are the three motor controllers, two heatsinks and
fans, a fuse holder, connector strips, an RC receiver, and a
battery.
Beckie and I took turns tinning the
ends of the wires. Tinning is heating the end of the wire with
a soldering gun and flowing solder onto it. This makes the wire
stronger. After the wire cooled, we screwed it into the appropriate
connector. After finishing all the connections, we carefully
checked each wire and then tested to make sure everything worked.
Thankfully there was no smoke and everything worked fine.
