Today we laid out all the
on-board electronics to see if they would work together. We
screwed the motors, motor controllers, connector strips, receiver,
and battery to a piece of plywood and wired them up. After checking
all the circuits with a multimeter we turned on the power, but
the propellers on the motors didn’t turn! We spent about
half an hour checking our wiring but couldn’t locate the
fault. Finally we realized that the motor controller wires were
placed upside-down in the receiver. After correcting this problem,
everything worked fine.
After testing the electronics, we made
a diagram of how we would place the different electronic components
in the termination can. Now we are fabricating the brackets
to hold the components in the card case. Our card case is made
from four stainless steel threaded rods that are 51 centimetres
long.
